LAW WEEK CELEBRATION
As one of the activities to celebrate "Law Week" the Integrated Bar of the Philippines conducted a forum on Magna Carta of Women in the Philippines on 16 September 2009 at the JBL Reyes Hall, IBP Building, J. Vargas Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City with Senator Pia "Compañera" Cayetano, co-author of the law.

Senator Cayetano gives a brief overview of the legislation, and focused on the rights granted by the law to Filipinos such as right to equal opportunity and access to resources, elimination of gender stereotyping in educational materials and curricula, elimination of discrimination in professions traditionally reserved for men susch as military duties, empowering women to develop their full potential, and upholding the rights of women in the marginalized sectors.
